Where care meets compliance

Accredited first aid training in Peterborough & the South East.

HSE-recognised EFAW, FAW, Paediatric and MHFA training, delivered onsite in hands-on groups capped at 8. My delivery moves at the same pace as hospitality itself: energetic, interactive and hands-on, with quizzes, games and practical drills throughout, kept simple, so it never drags and nothing feels irrelevant. Courses here are shaped around real shifts: kitchens, shop floors and the injuries your team is actually likely to see. The same small-group approach works just as well for offices, warehouses, nurseries and healthcare teams, hospitality just happens to be where this all started.

01 Why SafeServe exists

I sent my own staff on first aid training. It didn't prepare them. So I built the course I wished they'd had.

First aid doesn't need to be complicated. It comes down to a small number of clear, practical steps, and the simpler those steps are taught, the more confident people are to actually use them when it matters. That's the belief every course here is built on.

I spent 18 years in hospitality, the last 8 as a business manager, before founding this business, originally as SafeServe Solutions and now trading as SafeServe First Aid. Every time I sent staff on standard first aid courses, they came back no more confident than when they left. Ask three people what to do for a burn and you'd get three different answers. So courses here stay capped at 8 people, with time spent on the injuries your sector actually faces.

Plenty of first aid instructors come from a nursing, paramedic or forces background, and that experience genuinely counts in a real emergency. What I bring alongside full HSE-recognised instructor accreditation is 18 years in hospitality, including 8 as a business manager, actually running the shifts, so training here is shaped around real rotas, real accident-book patterns and real service pressure, not generic classroom scenarios.

Hospitality is where this all started, but the same small-group approach and full HSE curriculum works just as well for offices, warehouses, nurseries and healthcare teams. We're fully insured, and beyond the courses I deliver personally, SafeServe is backed by a vetted network of around 25 freelance trainers across the country, so multi-site groups or short-notice bookings further afield aren't a problem.

We still work in a hybrid way where it helps: theory delivered online so your team can work through it whenever suits them, and the hands-on practical delivered at your premises or a venue of your choice. Read the full story →

06 Why SafeServe

Training that actually sticks.

We're a hybrid first aid training provider with one mission: turn nervous first-time learners into confident first responders, with courses that reflect the work your team actually does.

🎯

Small groups, tailored to your sector

We cap most courses at 8 learners, which leaves time to focus on what's actually likely to hurt your team: burns and scalds for kitchen staff mid-service, choking and allergic reactions on a busy shop floor, cuts and manual handling in a warehouse. Same accredited syllabus, scenarios that actually look like your day.

🏢

Onsite delivery

We come to you: kitchen, shop floor, warehouse or venue. No travel costs for your team, and we train in the room you'd actually respond in.

💻

Blended learning

Online self-paced theory means shorter, sharper hands-on practical days. Less time off the floor, no thin cover on a busy shift.

Flexible scheduling

Evenings, weekends, split shifts - we fit around service hours and rotas, not the other way round.

💷

Transparent pricing

Clear per-learner pricing with group discounts. Certificates included, no surprise extras.

📞

Aftercare

Free advice between courses, plus reminders before your certificates expire, useful when hospitality staff turnover means certificates need tracking across a changing team.

🍽

Trained by someone who's run the shift

Many instructors bring a clinical or forces background, which is valuable experience. Alongside full HSE-recognised instructor accreditation, I bring 18 years in hospitality, the last 8 as a business manager, so training here is built around real rotas and real accident-book patterns, not generic scenarios.

🌍

Nationwide network, personal standard

I train Cambridgeshire and the South East myself. For multi-site groups or venues further afield, a vetted network of around 25 freelance trainers extends the same small-group approach across the country, and we're fully insured throughout.

"I needed to requalify my First Aid at Work certificate before it expired and wasn't looking forward to sitting through the whole syllabus again from scratch. The requalification course was exactly what it should be, an excellent refresher with loads of practical work which was great! It's left me feeling confident and competent going into another 3 years rather than just ticking a box. Would definitely go back to SafeServe for my next renewal. Would highly recommend, brilliant course. Thank you."

"Saw an advert for SafeServe First Aid on Facebook and almost scrolled straight past it, but the timing worked out as we needed a first aider in place before an inspection. Turned out he's Peterborough based, so he came to us and delivered the first aid training on-site for our group of six rather than everyone having to travel somewhere. Straightforward, practical, and nothing like the dry workplace first aid courses I've sat through elsewhere before. Would recommend giving the page a proper look next time it pops up rather than skipping it."

"Went along to a first aid course with Andy at SafeServe First Aid, not really knowing what to expect, and came away pleasantly surprised. It was interactive rather than just being talked at for a day, and he had a real knack for explaining things simply without dumbing it down, no confusing terminology, just clear and easy to follow. Everyone in the room understood exactly what to do by the end. Would happily recommend to other businesses in Peterborough looking to train their staff."

"Did a one day first aid course with Andy at SafeServe First Aid in Peterborough, it was interactive and fun, not what I was expecting from a first aid course! Andy explained everything very well and answered all my questions without any jargon, would recommend to anyone looking to get training for themselves or their team."
Paul MouldGoogle review, verified course attendee
★★★★★
"I'll admit I was a bit nervous going into a first aid course, expecting it to be dry and overly technical, but Andy at SafeServe First Aid made it genuinely enjoyable. It was hands-on and interactive the whole way through, and he explained everything in a way that actually made sense, no jargon, no feeling silly for asking questions. By the end I felt confident I'd actually remember what to do in an emergency, not just that I'd sat through a course."

07 FAQs

Common questions

Do you only train hospitality businesses?

Hospitality is where SafeServe started, and it shapes how EFAW and FAW are taught here: more time on burns, choking, cuts and allergic reactions. But the full HSE curriculum is covered either way, and the same course structure works well for any workplace, offices, warehouses, shop floors and beyond. We also run dedicated childcare, healthcare and mental health courses. Whatever your sector, get in touch and we'll tailor the session to your team.

What does “blended” mean?

Blended courses split the learning between online theory (which your team complete at their own pace, usually 1–4 hours) and a shorter, hands-on practical session at your premises. You get the same certificate as a classroom-only course, with significantly less time off the floor.

Where do you deliver training?

We operate as a hybrid provider - online theory anywhere in the UK, with practical sessions delivered across Cambridgeshire and the wider South East. Get in touch with your postcode and we’ll confirm.

How many people can I book on a course?

Most courses run with up to 8 learners as standard - we deliberately keep groups small so every learner gets plenty of hands-on time on the manikins and walks away genuinely confident. Larger groups (up to 12) can be arranged on request. Smaller groups (minimum 4 is typical) also work well, and we can link multiple smaller bookings together for cost-effective training.

Are your certificates HSE-recognised?

Yes - our EFAW and FAW courses meet HSE requirements for workplace first aid. Paediatric courses are EYFS-compliant for Ofsted-registered settings.

Is your instructor a paramedic or ex-forces?

I'm a fully accredited instructor to the same HSE-recognised, Level 3 standard as any first aid trainer. My background is different though: 18 years in hospitality, the last 8 as a business manager, before founding SafeServe First Aid. That's what shapes the courses here: real rotas, real shift pressure, and the injuries that actually turn up in a hospitality accident book.

How quickly can you deliver a course?

For onsite courses we usually need 5–10 working days’ notice, but we often have last-minute dates available. Online theory can start immediately.

Do you offer refresher / annual updates?

Yes. We offer annual BLS & AED refreshers, mid-cert top-ups, and reminder notifications before your existing certificates expire.

Can I pay by invoice?

Absolutely. We invoice businesses on standard 14-day terms and accept BACS, card and PO numbers.

Are you insured?

Yes, SafeServe First Aid holds public liability insurance covering every course we deliver, whether that's onsite at your premises or at our own venue.

Do you only cover Cambridgeshire and the South East?

That's where I train personally, but SafeServe is backed by a vetted network of around 25 freelance trainers across the country, all delivering to the same small-group standard. So multi-site groups, or sites further afield, are no problem, just get in touch with your locations and headcount.
