Regulated Level 3 qualifications, taught by a qualified instructor.

Every course I teach leads to a nationally regulated qualification with its own qualification number, awarded by First Aid Awards Ltd. Here is exactly who stands behind your certificate, what it is, and how to check it yourself.

Your qualification, in black and white.

Each course is a Level 3 Award on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The qualification numbers below are taken from FAA's own published qualification specifications, so you can look them up on the Ofqual Register.

Why regulated matters. A regulated qualification is checked from the outside. The awarding organisation is regulated by Ofqual and Qualifications Scotland Accreditation, the assessment follows the Assessment Principles for Regulated First Aid Qualifications, and the teaching follows current Resuscitation Council UK guidelines. That is a different thing from a certificate that only the training company itself stands behind.

FAA's specification sets the maximum at 12 learners per trainer. Groups of 5 to 12 are booked at a flat group price, and every learner still gets real hands-on practice time.

Where this sits with HSE and EYFS

HSE does not approve individual first aid training providers or specific courses, so choosing a competent provider is the employer's responsibility. FAA states that its First Aid at Work qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 where a needs assessment calls for a first aider, and that its 12-hour Paediatric qualification meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework. Frequently asked

Who actually awards the qualification, Nuco or FAA?

First Aid Awards Ltd is the awarding organisation and the regulated body behind your certificate. Nuco Training is an approved centre of FAA. I deliver your course as a Nuco Approved Instructor.

Is my certificate an Ofqual-regulated qualification?

Yes. Each course leads to an FAA Level 3 Award (RQF) with its own qualification number, awarded by an organisation regulated by Ofqual and Qualifications Scotland Accreditation.

How long is the certificate valid?

Three years from the date of achievement for all three qualifications above. FAA strongly recommends annual refresher training in between, and every EFAW, FAW and requalification booking includes a free 18-month e-learning refresher.
